Library – Malcolm McKinstrie II
Oriental porcelain, contemporary cube tables, and converntional furniture play happily in Malcolm McKinstrie’s library. “I wanted to create a modern take on the traditional room,” he explains. Blue skies, bright sunshine, and a wram, cozy fire inspired the room’s color scheme. The sofa, tea table, and striped chairs-all with taller-than-usual height-suggest a meeting spot, while Henredon’s blue-and-white lounge chairs with yellow trim are ideal for reading and relaxation.
A Tibetan wool rug helps set off the room’s original wood paneling and provides comfort underfoot. The Regency-style bench with a red cushion is the designer’s favorite.
